Hi yall, thought it about time I gave you a call. Everything still going O.K. over here, things are warming up a bit now. Its -28C today, ( it was -32C last week). Good looking chorus you have there now, although theres only one face i recognise,(J.E.). We tried to start a group in town here, but it didnt take off. The first night we had 7 bases, 2 leads and a tenor, and it got worse after that. We folded after 6 weeks. I just sing at retirement homes and clubs with some other guys every week. All for now. Good luck at Convention. Ill be thinking of ya. Arthur

Hi Guys - I've not long moved to Australia and have just been appoint MD of the Bay City Conchords here in Geelong. I have no connection to you - and am not really a barbershopper - but it's great to see you all in the Midlands. I lived and schooled in Cannock and was one of the few who served in the Stafford's regimental band so I have a very soft spot for the Midlands and the fantastic characters you all are. Very best of luck in alltour endeavours and may your point totals be forever high ones!

Very many thanks for your excellent entertainment at the George Hotel Lichfield on the occasion of the Christmas Party of the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad. A very Happy Christmas to you all.

Learn to Sing course, 16 October 2011
I'd like to express my deep gratitude to Anvil Chorus for giving me the opportunity to spend time with you and to learn from you. It was my first real exposure to barber-shop style singing and I was much impressed. I don't rule out the possibility of wanting to sing with you but at the moment one choir is enough. I thought Duncan was an inspirational leader with amazing ability and I consider you fortunate to have him on side. The organisation of the event, the advance publicity, and the way teaching was structured and delivered was of a very high standard. The friendship and warm welcome from everyone concerned was heartening.
The day gave me all I was looking for and I hope to benefit from what I've learned as I develop my own participation in Cannock Chase Orpheus.
Once again, very many thanks to all.

Hayley Johnson

Hello Gents!
I just want to wish every one of you the very best of luck at Convention. I sincerely wish I could be there with you as I was the last two years. How I miss singing with you all! I find myself woodshedding everything I hear at home (well, with a decent melody at least!). I was truely saddened to hear about the loss of Colin, he was a true gentleman, and a great tenor. I am sure he will be looking down on you all with pride at convention. I know you will make him very proud to have been a member, and your friend.
Please, Sing your hearts out. Feel the music, let it be a part of you, and let the audience know how much you care. You are the most talented group of people I have ever worked with.
Basses. You have my admiration and jelousy. How you get down to some of those notes I will never know. As I try to slide down to them my voice momentarily squeeks, cracks, then disappears. Now i understand why the ladies chase you!
Leads. The CORE of the chorus. Listen to each other. Match the sound, Sing as one voice. You are the peg that the other parts locate around. Sing as a single unit - I know how hard this can be, but you are all superb vocalists. Allow the air in your voice to merge your sound as one.
Baritones. You cannot understand how impressed I personally am by your skill. I have tried SO HARD to learn even a single song in baritone. I have managed a tag, that is all. You make the sound so full. I know how hard it is to learn your part, as I have tried. I have a new respect for you all, for gaining even a single purple dot. I wish I had the talent any one of you posses!
And finally Tenors. The guys who get to sing less than half as much as the others, especiealy when they are blocking. I hope I have done my bit in the past to help you. You have an amazing role model in Rod. And Duncan(s). Sing light and proud. Help the overtones from the other sections break free, You have the voices of angels.
Seriously, Anvil is one of the Luckiest chorus's in the UK. With expertise such as Mr Whinyates and his quartet to call upon, not to mention Rob Barber and the other external coaches the club brings in, it is a very fine club to sing with.

You will all do a fantastic job at convention. I have no doubt. Smile. Even on stage ;). And whatever happens. Enjoy yourselves. For goodness sake, drink late, hold afterglows, meet other people in the hotel. Don't do what we did last year. It was too serious, and no-where near as much fun as Llanddudnnnoooeewwww (I don't do welsh). And we did worse. Please. For the love of harmony. Enjoy your stay.

Former Tenor section leader. (who's in Dubai working. And wishes he was singing with you.)

Ian McCombs one of your new recruits sits by us and sings in a very high voice incessantly. Is this normal and will he recover so that we can come to see him at one of your gigs ?

Just wanted to say thank you for the superbly organized workshop on Saturday just gone. I found it interesting, informative and (perhaps most importantly) enjoyable. The only 'down side' is that I can't get the song out of my head

Hopefully I'll get over to visit tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Steve.

Hi there, Just wanted to congratulate you all on your placing today at the Stena Line Music Competition! I only heard you from backstage, but really enjoyed the sound. We were a little disappointed at our result, but it only serves to keep us on track and make us work even harder. Looking forward to meeting up with you all on the competition stage in the future! Congratulations and very best wishes.
